River East
River East is located directly north of the neighborhood known as Streeterville. The borders are debated, but River East is roughly bound by the intersection of the Chicago River and Lake Michigan (450E), State Street (0 E/W), Grand (450N), and Chicago Avenue (800N).

The inlet between the river and the lake was originally built to connect the North Pier Terminal where today the River East Art Center stands in a renovated structure.

In the past decade there have been numerous renovations in the River East Area. This area, once known as a "wasteland," has recently seen many upscale residential developments, hotels, theatres, and a host of restaurants that have moved into the River East Area.

The location of River East is very unique. The lake with is directly to the east and includes paths for running, hiking, and biking. To the west there are museums, theatres, and Millennium Park.

The predominate architecture in River East is newly developed highrise condominiums and townhouses. Many of them offer stunning river views and the proximity to the amenities of the city is unmatched.

Housing: In 2009, the average price of a townhouse and condominium in River East was $415,719 with prices ranging anywhere from $131,000 to $1,706,000.

Transportation: The benefit of living in or around the loop is the extremely convenient public transportation. River East is close enough to the loop to enjoy this luxury. The elevated trains are close to River East, and there are also busses that run on Chicago and Grand Avenues. Source: MLSNI
